Stay was perfect! My family and I needed something very close to the hospital. It was very accessible and within walking distance. Home was comfortable and clean. Zero issues with stay.

The place is quirky as described. Host was very responsive. Great location near hospitals and walking distance to shops. Good instructions all round. A few minor challenges: Heating is challenging during winter nights. There’s only one heat outlet for the house in the lounge room, so at night if bedroom doors are closed it’s freezing towards the back of the house. Place is older, and could use attention in a few areas like adding Tissues, a dish cloth or scrubber, and addressing some very old grout in the bathroom. Host was inflexible about a few favors I inquired about given the nature of my stay (my spouse was having an emergency medical stay at the hospital round the corner). Found it ironic when they then asked me for a favor to accommodate the cleaners car in the driveway during my stay, which I happily did. Thanks for enabling my stay. The location was extremely helpful given my many hours each day between the hospital and a bed.

Stayed for a birthday weekend, and it did not disappoint! The place was perfect for a small group (4). Host was super responsive and proactive - like any questions I had were answered in a text leading up to the stay or within the listing details. The decor was one of the best bits in my opinion - felt like every day I found a charming and unique piece to admire. Would absolutely stay again. ❤️

This house is in a great location and found very clean. It's obviously an old house; reminded us of our first house: a craftsman built in 1909. Wish we'd realized the bathroom connects the two bedrooms. Also. as mentioned it's a old house with all that brings: squeaky hardwood floors, limited outlets, but worked great for our family.

Very cute and homey. Bed was comfy. Only issue was the dresser is pretty old and the drawers stuck so we couldn't use it. Luckily there were enough hangers so it worked out. Appreciated how super responsive Aaron was with any questions we had. Great location between Mission Hills and Hillcrest. Can easily walk to coffee shops, restaurants, grocery stores, and nightlife.

Hi Gary! This is an older home and with that comes an older electricity system. Using multiple appliances at the same time (the microwave and AC unit) can sometimes trigger a temporary power outage. You just have to flip the breakers. Take care!

Aaron’s place was cute and clean. It looked like the pictures, which I appreciated because I specifically chose a place that was bright and colorful, so that my 8 month old baby would have something interesting to look at. Yes, it’s an older house, but we found it charming. The portable AC units worked great, though it did take a few hours to really cool off the house after we checked in on a warm summer evening, so be prepared for that. The surrounding area was surprisingly quiet, given the proximity to a hospital. The kitchen was well-stocked with a variety of appliances and cooking paraphernalia, so if you want to save some money by eating in, you are all set! We definitely recommend Aaron’s house :)

We had a beautiful stay at Aaron’s place with our family and dogs. The front yard looks like a movie and the entire house was lovely and homey. The beds were comfy and the kitchen was great to heat up small meals for our young daughters and the dogs were comfortable and felt right at home. Beautiful location and would give the highest recommendation.

PROS: Overall the house is nice & in a very safe neighborhood. Long driveway was a big bonus. Yard is great for dogs. Bed was super comfy. Had everything I needed. CONS: "Quirky" means old. It's a very old home that has had a huge decoration makeover. Window/wall AC units w/ a huge grate in the floor for heating & when the heating turns on it smells like something is burning throughout the house. Right next to a hospital & new construction so sirens & lights 24/7 as well as helicopters flying around. Laundry room situation is understated. There is no privacy whatsoever. At any point, a stranger can come into your house and be 5 feet away from you doing laundry. What doesn't help is that the owners will not install normal locks on the doors (to preserve the original doors value) - the locks on each room are barrel bolt locks (oh and there isn't one on the main bedroom). I did not feel safe here knowing there was minimum security. Host was responsive & kind.

This was my second time staying at this house and I have to say it was a wonderful time! I felt right at home and glad I was able to stay here before I deployed overseas. Definitely will stay here again if the opportunity presents itself. Its clean, peaceful, and the house its so cute! I wish I could lease it for a year! If you want a peaceful place to stay in Hillcrest, this right here is the place to be! walkable to all the nightlife/restaurants, and has a huge driveway! absolutely love it. From the moment I drove into the large Driveway, I felt like I was at home! This place really has such charm! Was especially happy about the parking situation since I have a large truck. This home is charming, clean, and wonderful! Yeah the home is an older home, but has so much charm, and everything makes sense! I would love to stay here again. I can't say enough good things about this property and the host. We were there a full two weeks and it felt like home. We had everything we needed, plenty of games, fun decor, outdoor space in the front, a FULL kitchen to make any meal you can think of(minus the groceries of course but plenty of coffee and spices), pleasant property managers, walkable area with nightlife and lovely shops, parking. The house was pleasant and well located to Hillcrest. The beds were horrible and very very very firm. Found it to be a little smelly inside like dampness. Heater is very old and water heater is in the kitchen which is a big odd. So cooking is cramped

taying here was great for friend and I. We loved how it was centrally located to everything and we were able to walk at night without feeling uneasy. Downtown San Diego is an easy Uber ride. Great cottage. Great location with easy access to Hillcrest Neighborhood, and not far from Balboa Park, the Waterfront and downtown. Comfortable beds, nicely equipped kitchen, and large living space. Quick response to all of questions about TV/Internet access. Needed a reboot and everything was fixed. Would definitely rebook on another trip to San Diego.

This was a perfect place for us to stay. We spent the Christmas and New Year holidays in the Quirky Bungalow. The small fenced front yard was perfect for our little dog to take his potty breaks. The location is central to everything downtown. We took Lyft and Uber into downtown as that was less expensive and less stressful than finding parking for our SUV. The area is very walkable and safe. We walked to breakfast and dinner several times. The Vons and Lazy Acres groceries are within walking distance. Parking is a premium in this area and having an off-street driveway that will accommodate two vehicles is priceless! The host is fantastic! I asked if there was a gumbo pot in the kitchen as I wanted to make a gumbo on Christmas Day for the family. There was not one in the with the kitchen pots, so the host ordered one for me and had it delivered to the front doorstep. It was a nice one! As it is winter and we had some cold nights, the floor furnace kept us toasty warm. There is a small electric space heater for the second bedroom, and it kept that room very comfortable according to my daughter and son who stayed with us at different times during our two weeks stay. Communication with the host was very easy and he was prompt to respond. We actually needed to extend our stay one night and it was no problem. The house is across the street from the hospital, and it is a COVID test and vaccination destination for locals at this time. There is some ambulance traffic with sirens and there is ongoing construction at the end of the street. These things are not under the control of the host and were not a big inconvenience to us. I just wanted to note these things for information about the area only. This is a wonderful location, and the host is fantastic. We will definitely stay here again on future visits to San Diego when we come to see our son. I give this cute Quirky Bungalow 5 stars!!

Great location and host responsiveness. Less than 5 stars because as many guests mentioned, the house is very old and comes with the nuances of such. The second bedroom seems to be an add-on to the patio and can get hot. We cleaned the floors every now and then because our toddler’s feet got dirty from the house. We also had a surprise pest service to prevent infestations and the outdoor treated areas were paws off for a few hours. No big deal breakers, but you may be trading some minor comforts.

Great location and perfect fenced yard for a dog. Aaron was super responsive and helpful during our stay. House has some quirks that are normal for an older San Diego home and place was charming overall. Would stay again.

It was a perfect location, in the middle of most things we did. The extra beach chairs came in handy. Only problem was the bed in the middle room was so uncomfortable and firm.

Adorable, private little house in Hillcrest. Close to local activity and most San Diego attractions. It was quiet while we were there also. Very clean, comfortable beds, nice kitchen with all the amenities you'll need. A cute little yard which my dog loved! A driveway with room for two cars, easy check-in, a great (and clean) washer and dryer if you need it. Really, really enjoyed staying at this house!! Appreciate that they are pet friendly!!

The house was super cute and in a great area. It was perfect for our stay in San Diego. We would recommend staying here, expecially if you are traveling with your furry friends. The house layout was a little quirky but that didn't affect our stay at all. It did get a little cold but the heater works great and a small heater was provided in the back bedroom. Keeping the doors open while we were away helped with the circulation. Aaron was super helpful and quick to respond to any of our needs. Overall we loved our stay in Hillcrest and will be back soon. Thanks Aaron!

Aaron’s place is AMAZING!! It is so much better than I could have imagined!!! The property manager is SO HELPFUL and quick to answer each message (I mean within minutes!!) offering great tips and information. The driveway fit twi cars with plenty of space. The TV and wifi are super fast. The rooms are great with closet space, luggage holders, lights, and hangers! The kitchen is FULLY stocked and the neighborhood is great! We were able to walk to all kinds of coffee spots and restaurants! Great neighbors and everything is SUPER dog friendly! What a gem! We will definitely be staying again!!

We had a very good time at the Quirky Place ... the house is mid- century, spotlessly clean ... well taken care of. The location is perfect: great walks, good restaurants, close to everything ... grocery, drugstores, etc. Well-stocked kitchen. Good laundry appliances. Good shower. Any issues (heat, tv confusion) were handled quickly by the host. It was so nice having off-street parking. Overall, I felt it was an excellent value for two people ... and since we were there a full week, we put the house through it’s paces, so to speak ... with cooking, laundry, etc. ... and enjoyed our Thanksgiving stay in the Quirky Place very much.

Th location was great. Felt safe at all times. Walked to restaurants in Hillcrest. Had a convention at the Doubletree in Mission Valley and was only a 7 minute Uber ride away. Maybe a few xtra blankets for the back bedroom. Overall would recommend the stay

Great home and great location! The home has a lot of character, easily accessible to Balboa Park/San Diego Zoo, Little Italy, Gaslamp Quarter, beach communities and elsewhere. Very clean. There is an active owner and responsive manager, both great. Our only issue was that the bedrooms do get hot in the early afternoon through about 10 pm. This was in early August with highs outside around 77 degrees. We kept windows open and it was still very warm. Living room has a wall unit and is very comfortable—temperature wise.

Humberto, apologies about the warmth. We are just getting this unit dialed in and will eventually have more ac units but we have added some fans and also instructions on how to leave the windows open safely during the day (this makes a huge difference in San Diego and is so often a foreign concept for those visiting the region from areas where windows are rarely used in that manner).
