This place is quirky and bright, it is cute in its own way. Check in was a hard to understand as the portal to access check on their website didn't work- keep in mind we arrived at mid night after driving all day with our children. BUT They were quickly responsive and we got in quickly. I couldn't access their portal till the day of check out and just gave up on that- but It was convenient location and comfortable, layout was funky but if you love different places with historic quality this is for you!

The home is charming, the amenities wonderful - many beach towels, beach chairs, childrens beach/park toys, sports equiptment. Huge washer & dryer. Coffee, filters, filtered cold water, toiletries (yummy shampoo, conditioner & body wash), free delivery on 1st delivery order, air conditioners, fans galore. THE CUTEST DECORATIONS/AMBIANCE. Follow instructions - do not park on street (we fit 3 cars in the driveway) as it is permit only for hospital employees (love that as we need to support hospital staff). Aaron was professional, kind and extremely prompt towards my few questions. Also SUPER CLOSE to everywhere wonderful in San Diego.

Stayed here for my birthday weekend with friends and had a great experience! We booked the front half of a double lot, which includes two separate houses with a fun retro 70s vibe. The space has two bedrooms (one with a queen and one with a king), plus a couch that can sleep one—though note it’s not a pullout as the listing suggests. The kitchen and dining area were absolutely charming, and everything was clean and well-stocked. Aaron and his team were incredibly friendly, responsive, and respectful throughout our stay. The neighborhood felt very safe and peaceful, though it’s worth noting the property is near a major hospital, so we did hear a few ambulances at night—nothing that disrupted our time, just something to be aware of. Overall, it was the perfect home base for exploring the area and making memories. I would absolutely stay here again. Huge thanks to our wonderful host! ❤️

I had a great stay at this Hillcrest Airbnb! The location was perfect—walking distance to tons of restaurants, shops, and lively nightlife, which made exploring the neighborhood super easy and enjoyable. One of the biggest perks was having a driveway that comfortably fit two cars—definitely a huge bonus since street parking in the area can be tough. The house itself was clean, well-maintained, and tastefully decorated. It felt very welcoming and cozy, which made it a great fit for my family of three. It was also a perfect spot for our two dogs, who enjoyed the space just as much as we did. Would absolutely stay here again!

The place is quirky as described. Host was very responsive. Great location near hospitals and walking distance to shops. Good instructions all round. A few minor challenges: Heating is challenging during winter nights. There’s only one heat outlet for the house in the lounge room, so at night if bedroom doors are closed it’s freezing towards the back of the house. Place is older, and could use attention in a few areas like adding Tissues, a dish cloth or scrubber, and addressing some very old grout in the bathroom. Host was inflexible about a few favors I inquired about given the nature of my stay (my spouse was having an emergency medical stay at the hospital round the corner). Found it ironic when they then asked me for a favor to accommodate the cleaners car in the driveway during my stay, which I happily did. Thanks for enabling my stay. The location was extremely helpful given my many hours each day between the hospital and a bed.

This house is in a great location and found very clean. It's obviously an old house; reminded us of our first house: a craftsman built in 1909. Wish we'd realized the bathroom connects the two bedrooms. Also. as mentioned it's a old house with all that brings: squeaky hardwood floors, limited outlets, but worked great for our family.

Very cute and homey. Bed was comfy. Only issue was the dresser is pretty old and the drawers stuck so we couldn't use it. Luckily there were enough hangers so it worked out. Appreciated how super responsive Aaron was with any questions we had. Great location between Mission Hills and Hillcrest. Can easily walk to coffee shops, restaurants, grocery stores, and nightlife.

Hi Gary! This is an older home and with that comes an older electricity system. Using multiple appliances at the same time (the microwave and AC unit) can sometimes trigger a temporary power outage. You just have to flip the breakers. Take care!

Aaron’s place was cute and clean. It looked like the pictures, which I appreciated because I specifically chose a place that was bright and colorful, so that my 8 month old baby would have something interesting to look at. Yes, it’s an older house, but we found it charming. The portable AC units worked great, though it did take a few hours to really cool off the house after we checked in on a warm summer evening, so be prepared for that. The surrounding area was surprisingly quiet, given the proximity to a hospital. The kitchen was well-stocked with a variety of appliances and cooking paraphernalia, so if you want to save some money by eating in, you are all set! We definitely recommend Aaron’s house :)

We had a beautiful stay at Aaron’s place with our family and dogs. The front yard looks like a movie and the entire house was lovely and homey. The beds were comfy and the kitchen was great to heat up small meals for our young daughters and the dogs were comfortable and felt right at home. PROS: Overall the house is nice & in a very safe neighborhood. Long driveway was a big bonus. Yard is great for dogs. Bed was super comfy. Had everything I needed. CONS: "Quirky" means old. It's a very old home that has had a huge decoration makeover. Window/wall AC units w/ a huge grate in the floor for heating & when the heating turns on it smells like something is burning throughout the house. Right next to a hospital & new construction so sirens & lights 24/7 as well as helicopters flying around. Laundry room situation is understated. There is no privacy whatsoever. At any point, a stranger can come into your house and be 5 feet away from you doing laundry. What doesn't help is that the owners will not install normal locks on the doors (to preserve the original doors value) - the locks on each room are barrel bolt locks (oh and there isn't one on the main bedroom). I did not feel safe here knowing there was minimum security. Host was responsive & kind.

This property was located in a great location in the Hillcrest area. It was well equipped for my two adult sons and myself. We weren't there much, but when we were it was nice. The heating is in the floor and the air-conditioning is in the window, but since it is Cali, no need for much in that way. I loved the front porch and the fenced front yard.

This was the perfect spot for our stay. Centrally located near downtown and to local neighborhoods. The check-in process was easy and the property had everything you needed in terms of cookware and basics. The location is a little busy with a hospital across the street but it's quiet in the evenings. The host was super responsive and was willing to work with us on date changes. I wouldn't hesitate returning again when we are in the area.

This was a short stay in San Diego for us, but this spot was just perfect for this visit. The location was convenient and felt very safe. On-site parking was a huge plus. We stayed at this place with another couple, so the two bedrooms were great. You can access both bedrooms through separate entrances, and there’s a jack-and-jill bathroom in between the bedrooms. The place was clean and adorably quirky. Lots of A/C units kept the house cool during our summer stay. Would visit again.

Overall good stay, water heater was off but that might have been due to a recent power outage ( construction was occurring directly outside the property ). Otherwise not terrible stay. The shared laundry was a bit odd and too close to one bedroom. Could not lock the kitchen door due to the house setup have the rest of the house available if someone else is sleeping in the other room. The house is in a great spot for nightlife and restaurants so thats a plus, be aware of the helipad ( at the hospital ) if it lands at night you hear and feel it... :)

This Craftsman was adorable and great for a short visit. We were very happy staying in Hillcrest. It's a short drive to downtown, Coronado, and to coastal towns like La Jolla and Del Mar. The house is well-appointed and has everything you need in the kitchen and bathroom.There were four of us, and we felt a little cramped in the space when it came to beds. The primary bedroom was great for my husband and me. My 21-year-old took the back bedroom and my 16-year-old took the pullout couch. He was frequently awakened by sirens (the hospital is close by). I think this house would be perfect for 2-3 people. Also, a note for people with small children. There is a large grate on the living/dining floor that is the main source of heat for the home. When it's on, the grate gets hot, and I'd be concerned about stepping on it with babies or toddlers.We were very happy with our stay!

This home had everything we needed for a week's stay. It is an easy two minute walk to the business district, and even with the hospital located a block away, the evenings were very quiet. I had a good stay here over a four month period! It is an older home so has some quirks, but the furniture is comfy, the a/c in the living room works well, and the windows in the bedroom keep it cool. The yard was great for my dog! It can be a little loud with ambulances going to the hospital, but the location is overall great. You can walk to most places in Hillcrest and Mission Hills, and everything else in San Diego is <15 minute drive away. Aaron was super helpful and responsive to any issues that arose.

Since we were traveling with our10 month old it was great to have access to a high chair and pack & play....just so great to not have to try and bring those things. Plus they had a little walker thing which she loved. We love the Hillcrest neighborhood and that you can walk to so many great restaurants and Balboa Park is so close. It was the perfect location for us. We also appreciate they allowed us to bring our 3 dogs. One thing we didn't think about though, was that our dogs are no longer used to city living and were a bit more vocal then usual about people walking around the neighborhood and the guests from the rental unit behind this property. No fault of those renting out the property, just something to think about if you're going to bring your dogs. We just ended up not being able to leave them at the property alone at all, which put a damper on some of our activities. Overall we had a great stay!

We came to california for a couple of days and needed to bring our two small dogs with us... One of them does not like to stay behind and this property was perfect for what we needed it. Our dogs were happy .. we loved the location (close to restaurants and beach -driving distance) and the communication with the owner was great without being invasive for vacation time :)... We recomend it!!!

Our family stayed here for a week while our kids were at a dance competition, it was the perfect location absolutely adorable and fit all of our needs. Aaron was a fantastic host, checked in with us throughout the week, and made it very easy to check in and check out. We look forward to rebooking next year.

Lovely house which was literally 12 minutes from every activity we wanted to indulge in. Midway Museum, Balboa Park, SeaWorld, etc. Close to Whole Foods and Lazy Acres, making it easy to pick up food. Kitchen was well appointed. Old house, but with great charm. Our family (2 adults and 2 kids) were able to share the one bathroom easily, but could be more difficult with larger families or with friend groups. Check in was easy, check out was seamless. Some reviews mention traffic related to the hospital near by. Only one time did that come to fruition, otherwise traffic was a none issue. Overall, very happy with our decision to stay here during our extended Thanksgiving break.

We enjoyed the house adorable. The location couldn't be better. Property Management was wonderful. Very attentive. House does need some repair, and possible upgrades to the furnace and hardwood floors.

Perfect location if visiting MCRD for graduation! Plenty of space for a small family. Up to date appliances. Washer/ dryer available. Property manager keeps in contact and always available!

Over all the property has great bones. It could use a little TLC typical for older homes. Great location lots of options for food and adult social activities. My main complaint was that there was not a full length mirror so getting ready for my cousins wedding was a little challenging. We slept in The living room so my husband could watch tv and so we could be warm by the heater. We did have electrical issues my husband had to reset the breaker box but it was resolved pretty quickly. We would definitely come again.

We loved staying at the rental, it was in a prime location. So much good food around, and everything we wanted to do was either walking distance or just a 10-15 minute drive. Place was comfortable and had everything we needed for our short stay.

This place was awesome. It’s located within walking distance of a lot of food and other cool things to check out. The decor is very bright and there are plenty of games to keep you busy should you need to stay in. Everything was very clean and fully equipped with cookware and dishes to prepare food there if needed. There is a full size coffee pot which is a must for us so we were glad to see that. Everything we planned to do was a very short drive away. I only wish I had more time and money to stay longer and explore more. The host was also easy to get a hold of and responded pretty quickly, I only had a few questions about the recycling but that was it because everything else was great.

In June 2023 I, my son, and a female, family friend stayed there. As mentioned in the description, the place has its quirks, yet we had a very nice visit. The biggest quirk was that you had to walk through the bedroom, then through the bathroom, to get to the back bedroom. The full-size washer and dryer came in very handy. It has a small but well stocked kitchen. With a full-size refrigerator and great gas stove. Kitchen came in very handy as I had to prepare a meal for 35 people and I was able to do it quite easily at this property. Four additional family members, who stayed at another location, joined us for some meals, and the dining room easily accommodated us. The location was perfect for us. Always speedy responses with the owner. We would stay there again!We would stay there again!

We stayed about 12 days. Great location and very unique home. Love the fenced in front yard, we enjoy sitting on the porch and watching the traffic. The place gives you the noise of the city, but very easy to walk to restaurants/coffee. The kitchen was well equipped and we used bbq about every day. Also was nice to have driveway parking. We would stay here again.

Cool place close in hillcrest, close to old town, and little Italy. We also hit pacific beach and Coronado on this trip bc they are also close. There was a slight unexpected parking issue but it was resolved quickly. Host was easy to reach and communicative.
