Lovely Mission Beach Retreat

Aaron’s place was great! Clean, tidy, homey, full of essentials & walkable to both the bay and beach- on a cute street. Can’t recommend it enough. I greatly enjoyed my stay. Five stars!

The location is great and the space is clean, easy to access and in waking distance of restaurants and the beach. Two major issues: Hot water in the shower last only 5 minutes. You have to unplug and replug multiple times to get through a shower. If you ha e shoulder length or longer hair, you will not be able to wash it before the water turns ice cold. Parking is a NIGHTMARE. If you are not going to have a car then you are fine. But if you are driving there or renting a car at the airport and plan to do excursions, know that there is no dedicated parking space. You have to find one on the street which takes 30+ minutes if hunting OR you have to park a 20 minute walk away OR pay an hourly rate in a pay lot 15 minutes away. AND if you are lucky enough to find a spot you have to get up early in the AM and move the car for the street sweepers. We liked the space and host was nice but I would never rent again if I had a car to deal with. It really was a major pain.

I had an amazing stay for 3 nights. The Air bnb was very clean, super cute and was in the perfect area! Walkable to the beach or the bay, to many cafes and restaurants, rental places for bikes and surf boards and many more. Aaron was very responsive, provided so much information and recommendations! I must say, it is perfect for a couple for a week or weekend away! As others have stated, parking is a challenge in the area but if your patient you will find somewhere to park that is walkable to the unit. The unit is a second floor unit upstairs and very nice. Very nicely done place and many small stores that are walkable. We had such a great time, so close to the beach, sunsets were beautiful! Thank you! Will stay again!

I would go back to this place. You get what you see. I would have given 5 stars but the loud ongoing daytime jack hammering immediately next door was disruptive (and appears to exceed the legal decibel limit for Mission Beach without a special permit) and we were not notified.

Place was very clean. Close located to the beach. Parking you just have to be patient and you can get good parking. Girlfriend loved the place. My only complaint was the neighbor running a jackhammer until 6:30 at night tearing down his wall. But not Arron’s fault. Great dinning around. Will stay again.

Loved the location/proximity to the bay on one side and the beach on the other side. The place itself was very clean & well stocked. If you follow the instructions given by host you'll have no trouble finding the place but we couldn't get in the back gate and the host never responded when we asked how to get in (that code was not given with the instructions). Someone finally came & opened the gate so we were able to get in. Overall would highly recommend this place to stay!

This is a cozy 1 bedroom that has clearly been taken care of. The kitchen was nicely stocked and pristine. The living room is quaint and works for quick rests before returning to the beach! The sofa and chair are "click-clacks," so if you need extra sleeping space, they do the job! The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom shower had hot water that never cooled (thank you tankless water heater!). This is conveniently located near the beach and local eateries - lots to do within walking distance. Aaron and Kara also have a treasure trove of beach-items, so we were able to enjoy our time on the beach in comfy chairs. If we had brought kids, there were plenty of sand-castle building tools, games, and balls to keep them busy. Though street parking was hit or miss, the marina offered free overnight parking, which was perfect. This really is a superb place to stay! Highly recommend!

The condo was quiet, comfortable for two people, and in a great location. It is a little tucked away on a side street but is short walking distance to the beach, cafes and restaurants. The kitchen is nicely remodeled and the whole place is as pictured. We were always able to find street parking nearby, though we did sometimes have to drive around a bit before finding a spot. Would stay again!

Aaron’s place was prest for our time in San Diego. It’s close to the beach and boardwalk. Parking was easy enough, especially with a smaller car. Check in and check out had simple and instructions were clear. My only feedback is wishing the laundry room didn’t have time limitations, but I’m sure there was a reason I was unaware of. Would definitely stay again!

The reason the laundry is time-limited is to accommodate the cleaners who require the machines for same-day cleanings when we have guests coming and going and they are working on a compressed schedule in the middle of the day, so we ask that no guests use them from 10-3 during that time. Aaron's place is kept up well and comes fully equipped with all essentials. Communication was very professional, and Aaron quickly responded to all questions. The apartment is truly just a few steps from the beach. The neighborhood is full of rentals homes in all shapes and sizes, giving it a bit of a patchwork character. Thus Mission Beach is great for a quick stay on the beach, but might not be the right place if you're looking for something more tranquil and cozy.

It was a unique property and was a little confusing to find but once found it was all good. Parking is not convenient at all, but there is a public parking lot within 3-4 minutes of the condo. Pacific Ocean is a minute or less away and 100 steps to the bay. A lot of good restaurants nearby within walking distance.

So Aaron was totally communicative and made everything so easy to follow. He even messaged to make sure I got in okay! I felt cared for. The place was a perfect place to be. The renters staying in the adjacent VRBO were insanely loud till 1:30a and smoking a lot on the property. That was a bit deterring at night; but, otherwise the area is actually super quiet safe, homey, comfy, and the perfect beach getaway.

I have been coming to San Diego since 2009 when my son started college at USD. We have rented VRBO in Mission Beach, Pacific Beach and Ocean Beach and once in North Park. This was the best one yet! Recently redone, well stocked kitchen (for those of us who like to cook a definite plus! ) fluffy towels, nicely furnished, close to the beach and bay side. They have beach chairs, umbrellas etc and laundry on site. They were very responsive to questions and did all they could to accommodate! Highly recommend this unit from Vacation Rentals by Aaron. I’ll be back!!!

Great amenities with this property. You couldnt pick a better location, 10 steps to the bay, a block to the beach, restaurants everywhere. We stayed for 3 weeks and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Highly recommend.

Cute, clean unit in a very convenient area for walking. Less ideal if you have a car due to limited parking. I would have preferred a simple written info booklet instead of electronic instructions, and I didn’t use the A/C because it required watching a video. Storage was limited, so small additions like a suitcase stand, bedside lamp, and shelves in the bathroom would make the stay more comfortable.

This is a cute spot just steps from the Bay. My husband and I really love walking both the bay boardwalk and the beach boardwalk, this has the best of both worlds due to the location. The house was comfortable and clean. We would definitely stay here again!

We had a great time at this wonderful home! It was just what we needed. Everything was very nicely updated and clean. It is a short walk to the beach or the bay and located in a very nice area with some nice walking paths, restaurants, and shops. Parking was tricky, but that is to be expected around here. I found a spot near El Carmel Point where I was able to leave my car for our entire stay for free. We just walked or round our bikes anywhere we needed to go. Everything was very close. I highly recommend this wonderful place!

We had the most amazing time in Mission Beach celebrating my son's 16th birthday! Traveling during a pandemic can be uncertain but this beach vacation reminded us that it's important to take time to celebrate summer and time with family. During our stay we parked in the alley while unloading then did find a day spot at San Juan Cove. After dark we watched for a 24 hour spot to open up on Santa Clara Point - parked our vehicle there and we never moved it. We brought our bikes and cruised everywhere - the Boardwalk, Pacific Beach, the grocery store, etc! We had "bay days" and "beach days" where we relaxed and either went boogie boarding in the ocean or paddle boarding on the bay. We cooked in the well-equipped kitchen and found a few restaurants to eat in or take out safely. (Do yourself a favor and grab a Kolache to go from Olive Cafe's bakery.) We even arranged a beach bonfire through one of the many bonfire services and had a beautiful campfire on the bay complete with tiki torches and S'mores. The property itself was modern and decorated in such an inviting manner. Plenty of room for us and our teen son. We were able to take advantage of coffee on the patio while he slept in and didn't feel like we were on top of each other. The bed is more comfortable than most hotel beds and we enjoyed the full size towels and bath amenities including a hair dryer! We appreciated having the beach towels, umbrella, chairs and boogie boards to use and all were in great condition. Aaron was fantastic to deal with and had great response time when we had questions. But really we didn't have many questions because of his very thorough welcome and check-out instructions. Can't wait to visit again and we would totally stay here again!

This place was great. It felt much bigger than it's size so space wasn't an issue. The futon couch was easy to use. Would definitely recommend!

We truly enjoyed out stay at this rental property. The place was very cozy and homey and had an excellent location. The interior was pretty well updated and clean. No issues at all with the place. Loved having beach blankets, chairs, bogey boards already at the place to use as our disposal. The host was very friendly and informative. The directions for checking in were very detailed and appreciated. Again the location can't be beat by being 30 seconds from the sand on the bay side of Mission Beach. Would definitely rent again and recommend to others. Alex

One of the best! I owned a mountain vrbo lodge for 18 years and have stayed in countless of rental properties through the years as well. My family loved this simple condo. Tastefully and modernly decorated with everything needed to simplify a beach vacation...keyless entry, plenty of beach accessories, perfect location, extra blankets/sheets, basic spices, olive oil...etc. We had a blast here for an 8 night, 9 day stay.

What an amazing stay!! My girlfriend and I spent 3 nights here and could not have had a better experience! The host was responsive and helpful, the place was clean and comfortable, and the location was incredible -- not only super close to the beach, but we could hop around to almost any part of San Diego within a quick 15-20 min drive. All the amenities were great (I worked from home one day and the wi-fi was perfect), and everything lived up to/exceeded expectations! Highly recommend this spot for your stay in SD!!

Wonderful, only issue was other renters taking more than one beach umbrella so there wasn’t enough for everyone to have one but that’s just people not following the rules. ☹️

We stayed here for 2 weeks and would have extended if it hadn’t been booked! The property is perfect, pictures do not do it justice. Just feet away from the bay and a 2 minute walk to the ocean makes it the perfect location. Parking is totally do-able as long as you pay attention to street sweeping! Wi-Fi was great, comfortable bed and clean, and the beach chair access was a huge plus. Can’t recommend this place enough!
