Mission Bay Studio w Ocean Views from Rooftop Deck

We could not have been more pleased about how this Airbnb worked out for us. Very close to the major sites that we wanted to see while in San Diego. The rooms were spacious, the bed comfortable, And there were a number of amenities that we did not expect. The bathroom even has a bidet! John and Kathy, that live on site, were a wealth of information and so enjoyable to visit with. I would’ve enjoyed having more time with them. If and when we are able to return to San Diego, we will definitely see if this Airbnb is available.

The bnb was lovely, our hosts were super sweet and you could tell they really went the extra mile to stock up the place with everything you need. They gave us great recommendations for places to eat and visit and responded to any questions we had via text which made it super easy if we were confused about anything. The outdoor kitchen and balcony was a really nice touch for us it was a huge plus while staying here :)

I was nervous about the Murphy bed but we slept well. The bed is a bit low to the ground. Lots of amenities- fridge (had drinks in it), washer, dryer, all kinds of kitchen supplies. Lots of places to sit and relax. Partner loved the easy chairs. Personally I LOVED the bidet and heated toilet. Great location and easy to get to La Jolla.

Great place to stay. Everywhere we wanted to go was about 10-15min away. It is basically a one bedroom +bathroom so not really a house, but enough space for two people. I was also able to reach out and check in early, which was very kind. The owner also gave me recommendations on things to do nearby. I would def stay here again!

Great place to stay, has everything you need - good wifi, rooftop lounge to work from with a view, pots & pans. I especially enjoyed the mini putt area and basketball hoop. Location is also perfect everything is very close by. Would recommend if you need to stay in the SD area. Aaron is also very responsive most of the time responded to me within 10 mins.

Loved this cozy little place. They have everything you can think you need. Kettle, iron, toaster oven and many more. Love the selection of games and activities. The bed was comfy and although the place was small there was still a good amount of room when the Murphy bed was down. Perfect spot for two people.

What a wonderful, cute home for respite! My partner and I slept wonderfully in the surprisingly comfy bed and soft sheets. We loved the backyard and watched the SeaWorld fireworks from the rooftop. The host was very friendly and responsive - would definitely stay here again the next time. However, next time, I will have to prepare better dance moves to reactivate the sensor for the light in the bathroom. It tends to turn off during a shower.

Surprisingly Comfortable Bed even though it was a Murphy Bed. Wonderful recliners that were very comfortable. They even had bathrobes & extra warm blankets. We were able to see the fireworks from Sea World from their third story deck last night. Highly recommend!

We loved the location, the owner, the views, and the convenience of this place. Right off I-5, 10 minutes from the airport, 15 minute walk down to the bay and its park. There's really nothing to complain about. This place is the perfect launching point for enjoying San Diego. We even had a few friends over before a concert, and we sat on the balcony watching the sun set into Mission Bay. John was very helpful, showing us everything the place had to offer. The bathroom has a double shower head, plenty of room for 2, and looks recently remodeled. Kitchen has everything you need for meal prep, we only used it for breakfast. The murphy bed allowed us to make great use of the space. Really no complaints whatsoever. Two nearby gas stations (1 and 2 blocks away) had the odds and ends we needed/forgot. We loved it!

Although the property is excellent what really makes staying here extra special is Kathy & John. This couple go out of their way to make sure that your every need is met and that you have the best holiday possible. Kathy went out of her way to take us to Sea World so that we would not have to pay the parking fees, and also drove us to the airport when we were leaving. If we are ever back in San Diego we will certainly want to stay here again. The view of the bay from the sundeck is stunning, as is being able to watch the sunset. The location is also great for access to Mission Bay, the freeway and most major attractions, e.g. with Sea World only a few miles away. We would certainly recommend staying here.

Wonderfully cozy in a nice neighborhood. Two blocks off the "I" but could barely hear the traffic. Convenient location, easy access to downtown. Kathy and her husband (sorry, can't recall his name) were very nice. Only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is the construction crew working on the property early in the morning. Otherwise, 5 stars, no brainer. If we come back to San Diego, we'll try to book this again.

Well.... Absolutely amazing holiday staying with Kathy and John, they couldn't do enough for us and always responsed to anything we asked for. Their family was also very welcoming and we loved joining them to watch the Super Bowl. The studio is great value for money and Kathy stocked our fridge with a range of drinks. You need a car here I recommend dirt cheap car rental excellent price especially if you are under 25. Kathy helped us get used to the roads and sat passenger when we first drove. The studio had everything you needed including all toiletries just amazing. No review would come close to explaining how wonderful, kind and helpful this couple were during our stay. I have never been to any hotel or rented any apartment that have been this great and welcoming. The appartment is in a great location and easily accessible to I5 (main route to LA). This is a great place for a holiday. The studio has everything you need and the improvements that John & Kathy have made since our visit last year have really added to it. The location is great - Seaworld, Mission Bay & Pacific & Mission beaches and the I5 are all within easy access. However, the real attraction of this property are the owners, John & Kathy. The welcome you receive and the care and attention throughout the stay is second to none. John & Kathy kindly invited us to their barbeque to celebrate the 4th July with them. It was great to meet their family and friends and we had a wonderful time and really felt welcomed and not like visitors. They also took us to Tijuana and we had a great time touring the town and then went for a fabulous meal. They are truely great people and we now consider them friends and hope that we will be able to return soon. We would certainly recommend a stay here.

Kathy and her husband are some of the most wonderful people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. I stayed in this lovely studio apt. during a recent house-hunting trip to San Diego. If all the people in San Diego are as awesome as these folks - then I am certainly going to love it when I return to live in the area in September. They made me feel like I was part of their family... and I look forward to my next visit! I have stayed in many wonderful upscale hotels in my time -- but none of them have the feel of home like this place! My husband and I loved our stay in Mission Bay Studio, the place is lovely. We enjoyed San Diego for 10 days; this is perfect location just minutes to all the great tourist attractions. We rented bikes and rode Mission Bay/Beach almost every day. This place was very comfortable, clean, and has everything you need. I loved the French doors that open to the patio for indoor/outdoor living. We watched fireworks most nights from the 3rd floor deck which has a wonderful view. We cooked most our meals on the grill and ate on the patio it was perfect. The owners were excellent hosts and we will defiantly return in the future. We would defiantly recommend a staying here.

This studio is truly amazing. Located within minutes of every major attraction and beach, and the hospitality was second to none. I brought my wife here for our 10 year wedding anniversary. John and Kathy awaited my call and when the time came lit candles, put a bottle of wine on ice and had everything ready to go for my wife's surprise. They truly exceeded my expectations. We stayed for three nights and other than the first day when I checked in I never even saw them again. They respect your privacy to the fullest!!! I will definitely be back. Wanted to write a review for this rental. We wanted to visit San Diego and not worry about parking, noise and not being too far many attractions. This appartment filled all our needs and more. We had a very nice 5-night stay at Kathy and John’s studio unit. The 3rd floor deck is very enjoyable for breakfast and sunsets with Mission Bay and the Pacific to the west. The ground floor yard with BBQ/refrigerator/dining area is great for meals on the patio. The Murphy bed was very comfy, the unit was very clean, and they provided all the conveniences of home when it comes to kitchen gear and bath supplies that you may have forgotten. The location is excellent in terms of proximity to many of San Diego’s sights and freeway access is easy. You are just far enough from the beach to avoid the fog that tends to roll in at night along the coast, and you can be sailing or surfing with a short drive. All-in-all a very good choice.

We loved our stay at Kathy and John's place! LOCATION is great and close to everything we wanted to do-we even drove to Disneyland and it was only 1.5 hours away.. This was our first time to the San Diego area. When our flight arrived, I called Kathy and she gave us an awesome suggestion for lunch (Blue Water)! We arrived and the space was so cute and just what we need for 2 people. I had never slept on a Murphy Bed before, but it was very comfortable. We did not cook during our stay, but everything was available if we had. The best part about our stay was having the owners to ask where to go and what to do. John, gave us a great recommendation on what to see at the San Diego Zoo and we got to see an pangolin (LOOK IT UP)! We also saw the fireworks from the top level one night and it was a nice end to the day. We hope to make it back to the San Diego area soon, and definitely stay at Kathy and John's place again! This review is late as my wife and I stayed here for a week last September for our one year wedding anniversary. Well, this past weekend my family came to town for a visit and my dad asked me for information regarding the rental. So, here is that review! The rental could not have been a better home base for my wife and I during our time in San Diego. The owners of the rental were more than accomodating and the price was surprisingly low. The listing description in regards to the location, layout and amenities were 100% accurate. The property was not only clean and well-maintained but almost flawless. This was our third time staying here and hopefully not our last. The studio has everything you need and every time we've been John & Kathy have made improvements since our visit last. This year was no different with the addition of an air-con unit - really helped as we had a heat wave the first week. The location is great - Seaworld, Mission Bay & Pacific & Mission beaches and the I5 are all within easy access. However, what keeps drawing us back are the owners, John & Kathy. Their welcome is so warm and friendly and they go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need. Nothing is a bother to them. Stayed at the Mission Bay Studios for 8 days during my last visit to San Diego. It's convienently located just off the highway only minutes from everything. Comes with a parking space included- unlike all the area hotels that charge/day to park. The apartment was clean and nicely sized. It had all sorts of ameneties like cable/pay channels, equipped & stocked kitchen....things you might forget at home like bathroom supplies. It also comes with use of bikes, beach gear, etc if you need them. Back patio is great with a BBQ set up and patio set. Safe neighborhood- close grocery store and found a great mexican restuarant up street to get a nice breakfast burrito. The landlords were great- very accomdating and friendly. I will definitely stay here again on my next visit to the area.

friend & I have travelled all over the world and Kathy & John are definitely some of the nicest, genuine and helpful people we have ever meet. As 2 people that never had driven in the US or driven an automatic, Kathy spent one evening with us nearby San Diego harbour helping us get accustomed to the car, driving on the other side of the road & all the while telling us stories from the locality. John took us out sailing around the harbour another day where we got very up close the navy shipyard and Naval boats whizzing by. They saved us expense ferrying us to and from SeaWorld and to Tijuana to one of the nicest restaurants that you could hope to find. Some how they managed to do this without ever encroaching on the holiday. Meeting them & spending the little time we did with them one of the highlights of a holiday that was jammed pack with fantastic points. We enjoyed our stay so much! The unit was super clean and cozy. Loved that it was close to everything. We spent a lot of time on the top deck with the views of the ocean and Mission Bay, we had it all to ourselves. Everything was easy! check in, Parking, etc. Our hosts were great! Attentive and pleasant. They had our favorite drinks stocked in the fridge. After our first night, I mentioned the mattress was a bit hard for me. They had a brand new mattress brought in. We couldn't have asked for more and look forward to going back.

Perfect hideaway for two. Patio offers privacy and a nice view. Kitchen is stocked and owner even had some beers for us when we arrived. We found it to be quite comfortable and the location is close to everything. The upper patio was a great addition and we had to ourselves. This property is in a great location. Convenient to downtown, airport, Mission Bay, Zoo, Coronado, etc. It's perfect for 1 - 2 people. I was so happy to see Diet Coke in the refrigerator when I got there! The bed was soooo comfortable and they have everything you need, including shampoo, conditioner, liquid soap, blow dryer, coffee, etc. The patio is super cute and I also really enjoyed the upper deck. It was a little chilly the whole time I was in San Diego, but I could sit up there in the sun and enjoy a good book. Can't say enough good things about Kathy and John, they are fantastic people.!

Kathy was great to work with - she called me before we left for our trip to discuss transportation. We ended up renting a car and the place was easy enough to get to from the airport. While the location isn't really within walking distance to a lot of restaurants and shops, it's located in an area that's easy to hop on the highway and get to anywhere you need to go. The place was very clean - the bed was amazing (one of the best beds I've ever slept in), the double-head shower was awesome, my husband just raved about the TV channels available. Unfortunately the weather wasn't super warm when we went so we didn't get to take as much advantage of the rooftop patio as I would have hoped. The only reason I rated it 4 instead of 5 was because I didn't realize the unit was underneath Kathy and her husband's main living. I'm somewhat of a light sleeper so I could hear them walking and their grandson was there running around as well. Not a huge deal - just something to be in-the-know about if you're also a lighter sleeper! Overall - I would definitely recommend!

The studio was nice and clean and had everything we needed. The bed was quite comfortable. Kitchen and bath were well stocked with everything we needed. There were also beach towels and beach chairs which we appreciated. Owners were very nice. The place seems well kept inside and out and I enjoyed all the beautiful plants in their landscaping. Enjoyed the upper patio as well for watching the sun set. Also appreciated being able to park in the driveway, that's not always available in San Diego rentals. I think they should update their photos as some of the furniture inside was not what was pictured and the patio furniture downstairs right outside the unit we were in was not there. It's not a huge deal but it was one of the reasons I chose that place thinking we could enjoy sitting out on the covered patio on the chairs and sofa. There was a big dining table out there instead but the chairs were all taped up being painted so we couldn't really use that patio.

We stayed for two weeks too small of a living area for two week stay. We wish we would have been directed to another location. Upper deck would be great in better weather it was unusually cold and windy for our first 11 days - so little use of deck and no use of the barbecue area. Housekeeper was available for a change up of linens after the first week and we appreciated that service. We updated a lamp for the owner (at her experience) since the existing lamp was old and loose providing minimal light for reading. We spent our time at Balboa Park and several museums in the area. The owners were responsive to any request.

We enjoyed our stay here. Love all of the thoughtful amenities, including a washer and dryer, dishwasher, and iron and ironing board. Plus snacks and a noise machine and access to beach towels and chairs. Kathy is lovely.

This studio apartment was wonderful. Very clean and well equipped. The rooftop patio is the perfect place for relaxing and the outdoor space below has all you need for outdoor entertainment or a trip to the beach. The host was very responsive to any concerns. I would definitely stay here again

This studio was exactly what me and my kids needed for our quick trip to San Diego. It was close to all the attractions in San Diego as well as the beaches which made it convenient for us to get more done. Communicating with Aaron and his mother Kathy was easy. They made sure our stay was memorable.

I first want to start off by saying Kathy and John are amazing so very helpful with everything. This place is by far one of the nicest places I have found on here. Everything from the view from the deck to the inside we could of not asked for anything more. The deck is amazing to sit and enjoy a nice dinner while enjoying the SeaWorld fireworks. If you are looking for a cozy little spot and want some relaxation this is the place for you. I'm already ready to come back and visit, you will not be disappointed with this studio. As our 2nd trip to John & Kathy's studios we chose the large one this time as we were staying longer. It was just perfect for our needs & extremely comfortable. (loved that dual shower head shower!) We spent 8 wonderful days in San Diego-hiking in Torrey Pine Reserve, walking beaches and lunching along the ocean, visiting Balboa Park which offers days of wandering through museums etc., and strolling through old town visiting multiple stores holding artisan's wares. Even went to a fantastic live play that Kathy recommended. There is still so much to see and do. We feel that John & Kathy are hosts "extraordinaire"! They have made us feel we are special friends not just clients. We thank them for all the special eateries that we enjoyed recommended by them. We rate this studio a 5 +! We feel we have found the best San Diego has to offer and we WILL be back! Thank you John & Kathy for everything!

We enjoyed this property immensely. Very clean and excellent service provided. Will be visiting again. Very quiet at night and close 5 minute drive to beach or bay. Would recommend to anybody that doesn't need to be right on the sand. Provided beach toys such as boogie boards, bicycles, and sand toys which was great to not have to rent or buy.

First we would like to say that this place is so cute! From the moment we walked through the gate, the view and the cleanliness caught our eyes. This studio is decorated so nicely, the owners really paid attention to detail. The best part was the full size bathroom with a double shower. The kitchen AND outdoor kitchen are great. The only thing is you would have to hope for a friendly neighbor because you will be sharing the back yard, with the putting green and BBQ, with them. The upper deck, to view the fireworks is just beautiful! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. Not only is it nice, clean and cozy it's close to everything. We did not get a chance to meet the lovely owners, but dealing with Kathy on the phone and through email was great. We would definitely stay here again, hopefully this place is available next time we come down to SD.

We loved Kathy and John's place. The hosts are gracious and giving people. The place is conveniently located to most of the highlights in San Diego. We absolutely would stay here again if we revisit San Diego. San Diego has a fine variety of ethnic restaurants, For very good improv comedy go to National Comedy Theater. Enjoy the half-priced sushi at happy hour 3:00-6:00 at Rapongi in La Jolla. Visit the mission.

I stayed with Kathy and John memorial day weekend and the experience was amazing. They're a charming couple and between the two of them have plenty of ideas to get a real taste of San Diego. I would highly recommend staying at one of their studio's. They offer more than enough room for families or couples. The GPS they offered was also a priceless tool when traveling the freeway. Overall I would say if you are traveling to San Diego and aren't staying here you are making a huge mistake. It is an experience like no other.

This was our first stay here at this location in San Diego. The studio was charming and cozy. Lots of amenities and didn't really need to bring a whole lot with us except food and clothes. The new deck on the 3rd story was awesome for just sitting and relaxing and having a drink - we even took our dinner up there one night and ate under the stars. We had fun watching the fireworks from Sea World from up there too. The studio was nice and close for everything that we decided to do this trip, the host / hostess were very friendly and had lots of personality. Next time we come back - we just might have to book here again. Good value for the money! Gary & Jeanie

We were completely in awe when we arrived! Couldn't believe how charming the place was and how close it was to the beach and many playgrounds for the kiddo. Kathy was amazing! When we arrived she invited us up to her house and immediatly gave us food and all kinds of ideas of places to check out. We absolutely loved watching the sunset (and fireworks from Sea World) from the top deck. My 2 year old was entertained by all her pretty sea shells and the putting green. Thanks again Kathy, I will be trying to get my husband out the next time!

We enjoyed staying in this Mission Bay studio for nine days. Everything we needed was provided. The quiet location was perfect and we could easily drive to all the nearby attractions. Kathy and John were fantastic and gave us such helpful information for sightseeing and dining out. The murphy bed was so comfortable. We woukd love to come back and have our morning coffee on the sunny deck enjoying the view of the San Diego Bay

I took my two girls, ages 9 and 6, to spend one week in San Diego. The nightly rate was perfect for our budget. We had a great view of the city and beach off the balcony; we were able to see the fireworks from Seaworld. The location is in close proximity to everything. We visited the Zoo, Balboa Park's museums, Mission Beach and La Jolla Cove. There were many playgrounds to choose from nearby. The owners were great. Very friendly and they provided discount coupons and good locations of places to visit and eat. I would recommend this place to anyone who want to rest and relax - for it was peaceful. No worries about noisy people walking past your doors at night like in hotels. The place was clean and cozy. We look forward to another stay.

We came to San Diego for Comicon and wanted a quiet place to stay. Not an easy request considering over 100,000 people flood the city to attend! Kathy and John were SO helpful with tips and even offered to drop us off so we would not have to worry about parking. It was amazing how quickly we were embraced. We stayed for 4 days and loved every minute! This was such a treat for us to get away from the cold and snow of Cleveland! We loved sitting on the roof deck with a cup of coffee, walking to Mission Bay, going to the Zoo and relaxing! The owners John & Kathy could not be more accomadating! Overall great stay! The only complaint we have is my husband and I are sports fans and we arrived on the first day of a NFL game and there are no local channel offerings or sports. We watched on our phones. And the wifi password is incorrect in the room booklet. The hosts on property were being adorable!

I stayed for 3 nights for a work conference. The studio was amazing, truly everything I could ask for on a business trip. There was plenty of space, much more than would be offered at a hotel. I was provided with free drinks and snacks which is always appreciated. The hosts were friendly and alway available. Having a washer and dryer in the unit was very helpful. I will definitely stay again if I am back in the area.
